Innovation Power Catamarans - Pierre Coetzee

"We used the Interceptors on an Innovation 52 Power Cat that had more horsepower (twin 825hp) than previous 52s. Not wanting to go through the costly exercise of repitching or even changing props, we decided to try the Interceptor method. The results were great. VEEM's predictions were, as we have come to expect - spot on. We did not have to touch the Interceptors as the boat performed as predicted. The interceptors do not seem to detract from performance at all. In a similar situation, I would use the Interceptors again."

"The Interceptor Propeller is a tremendous step forward in propeller design. By changing the Interceptor strip height, we can easily change the effective pitch of the propeller. This allows us, and our customers, to fine tune the engine RPM’s to insure optimum performance. Often our boats are lightly loaded for day trips sailfishing in South Florida, and then the next month they are fully loaded headed to South America for an extended stay. The Interceptor strips will allow this type of customer to easily adjust their propellers for these drastically different load conditions. Today’s high performance diesel engines must be able to attain their rated RPM to insure maximum longevity, top fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and continued warranty coverage. Thankfully, the days of “heating and beating” an otherwise satisfactory set of propellers to adjust for 30 or 40 RPM’s are gone.
The Interceptor strips are cleverly colour coded to aid in the proper identification and selection of strips. We have demonstrated the effectiveness of the concept and application of the Interceptor strips repeatedly. Most recently, our factory demo Captain changed the strips underwater. Back to back sea trials documented the predictable and repeatable results.
The Interceptor strips add a level of flexibility and convenience to VEEM’s already world class product offerings. VEEM’s design and manufacturing innovations have helped Viking maintain our commitment to “build a better boat everyday”.

"Today we have successfully sea-trialled the FM 75' with your surface piercing propellers (the VEEMSurf Interceptor). In the first session we achieved 43.2 knots @ 2302rpm and drives 2.5 degrees up (this is -5º from baseline), with the yellow interceptors. Then we changed the interceptors to the red ones and we achieved 43.6 Knots @ 2350rpm and drives 0º degrees (-7º from baseline). We are very happy with the propellers!"
