For installation, the PropSmith seats the propeller very forcefully up onto the taper. There are no hammers, no wrench extensions, no blocking of blades or risk of bent tips and no scarred shafts. PropSmith eliminates the risk of a propeller loosening on the taper, leading to vibration, keyway cracks, or shaft failure.
For removal, the PropSmith exerts the same high force (up to forty tons) directly down the taper to pull the propeller. PropSmith is not affected by diameter number or overlap of blades or the space between strut and blades. There is no contact with blades, so there is no risk of damage from chains, hooks, or slipping of clamps.
PropSmith is the only tool that is both a prop "pusher" as well as a prop puller, with substantial force that is developed pressing the hub directly in line with the shaft, either onto or off the taper.
PropSmith is also the only tool that is compact enough for easy onboard stowage. Small and simple enough to make underwater changes easy.
Standard PropSmiths come with right hand SAE threads to mate to standard shaft end threads. All other special threads or metric or left hand are available on special order. The required puller holes in the aft side are now standardised with major propeller manufacturers.
